Another 2-0

What I’ve written about the Rangers in my last entry is now almost the same to write about the Yankees. They played patient, they played cool, they get the runs when they needed it. Tonight’s thanks especially go to Lance Berkman who made a pretty good job. But for another time in his career the big boy to rely on was Andy Pettitte. A friend of mine and Mets fan (Hi Mike. I hope you’re well?) wrote to me during the regular season that in his opinion the Yankees go as far as Andy takes them. Yeah, man, it looks like you’re right. And it was a good feeling to see my favorite player Brett Gardner running pretty well to give the lead the last safeness before Mo shuts the door. Coming up to Yankee Stadium, I hope that Phil Hughes will finish it.

Some congrats.

It’s always good to congratulate a new man in the team to his first hit or his first homer. So we’re still waiting for Lance Berkman and his first homer as a Yankee. But as nearly every day at the moment we can congratulate to a guy – this time it’s Jorge Posada for his first stolen base of the season. (This is written after the 6th inning, maybe Lance will follow? Maybe fans should be more patient with him, booing on him after the groundout in the 8th isn’t really very kind.)
Next congratulations goes to the big man with the 52 on his back: CC Sabathia has become father of a son, he had four children now,  and he also brought the crowd to cheer on him after striking out David Ortiz in the 8th. Really brilliant pitching tonight, CC!!
Then I must give a congratulation to two opponents: the Blue Jays struggled the Rays down today with 17-11 – what an extraordinary game!!! Thank you, guys, for showing that. That’s the kind of playing ball the fans wants to see! And a little extra congrats to J.P Arencibia – first at bat, first hit, first two-run homer – what a start!
And the last congrats go to Mo – must I tell why? No.
So everything looks fine tonight, I’m proud to wear a Yankee-shirt and I’m proud to be a Baseball-fan. The only thing I’m worried about tonight is: what shall I do after the World Series???
Good night and may God bless you all.

Let’s play loud!

What a high-class game this night against the Rays! It was really loud at Tropicana Field and the Bombers were always behind the count – 0-1, 1-3 and 3-4 – but also always get even and then took the first lead in the 9th with Cano’s 21st homer. Robby was the man of the match, with the home run and also two doubles again he was the trouble spot that couldn’t be cooled down. Finally Mo saved, and so the Bombers are again 2.0 in front of Tampa Bay. It was also remarkable that the Bombers has won with just 6 hits against the 9 hits of the Rays, but all 6 hits earned extra bases – 3 doubles and 3 homers – and so the win was the result of a very effective game. Again A-rod didn’t make the big hit – doesn’t matter! Maybe he waits until he’s back in Big Apple?!
Everyone seemed to be happy at the bullpen – only Lance Berkman didn’t look very amused. Welcome to New York, Lance. I hope you’ll become happier during the rest of the season.
